ArtAID created and installed the very first September 11th Memorial to name all the victims of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Originally displayed on the family and public viewing platforms at the site of the former World Trade Center, the “Ground Zero Memorial” was viewed by millions of visitors until the public viewing platform was dismantled marking the end of the recovery effort and relocated to Union Square as part of ArtAID’s mission to carry the torch in honor of those lost on that tragic day and to provide a formal remembrance until a permanent memorial is created.

Dedicated on Memorial Day 2005, this updated September 11th “Wall of Remembrance” contains pictures that were placed on the original installations by the friends and family members visiting the site and incorporated into the design of this revised tribute. The selection of pictures is not intended to convey any preference, but rather is based on a random selection determined by space and the availability of images. This particular listing of names is not identical to the “official” list in that it contains hundreds of revisions submitted directly to ArtAID by family members expressing a preference for the format of name to include middle names, maiden names, or nicknames.

This “Wall of Remembrance” also gives special recognition to the 1st Responders of September 11th, the heroic firefighters, police, emergency medical personnel and other uniformed officers that gave their lives “In the Line of Duty” in their brave attempt to rescue others from the burning towers of the former World Trade Center.

This tribute also remembers the victims of the terrorist attacks at the Pentagon, Flight 93, and the 6 victims of the 1993 terrorist bomb attack on the World Trade Center are also listed. In this installation, the airline flights and locations of the attacks are listed separately, in chronological order of the events, and alphabetically to facilitate finding names of those lost.

ArtAID has provided this banner as a public service and will continue to grow and maintain this memorial installation. All are encouraged to submit additional pictures and comments, and are requested to make any suggestions, comments, additional name revisions or corrections to info@artaid.org.

ArtAID has compiled one of the most accurate listing of names of the victims of September 11th working directly with the World Trade Center Families. Hundreds of corrections to the "official" list have been submitted to ArtAID by family members expressing a preference for how they wanted their loved ones listed. Many changes included adding nicknames, middle names and maiden names. To submit a modification please first inspect the TEXT version (if you want the document in PDF format, you'll need a PDF converter) and then email us your request.
