This image was created to honor of the unsung heroes of Ground Zero. The Emergency Response Division of the New York Department of Sanitation (DSNY - pronounced "disney") quickly mobilized clean lower Manhattan after the collapse of the towers. The streets and sidewalks were covered with a layer of dust and debris several inches thick, like after a snow a winter storm or the dust from a volcanic eruption. Working around the clock, the helped us return to a sense of normal after such unimaginable devastation. THANK YOU DSNY!!!
