Friends and Family are invited to download a print resolution file HERE.
Angels have long been believed to possess the power to protect, console and heal, especially during difficult times. This particular image of the Firefighters Angel was chosen for its inspiring beauty, strength and courage, qualities that characterize firefighters everywhere who risk their lives help others.

Houston firefighter killed battling ballroom blaze.

HOUSTON, --April 4, 2004. A Houston firefighter, Kevin Kulow of HFD Station 50 was killed and three others were injured early today while battling a blaze at the El Festival ballroom.

Thirty-two-year old Kevin Kulow was one of the first firefighters on the scene, and he entered the building as part of a three-man crew. Two of the firefighters in the crew made it out, but Kulow did not.

"On the first call -- the first engine company, the officer has to make a decision. Is this a fire that can be mitigated quickly?" said HFD Assistant Fire Chief Raul Reyes. "In this case, if there was a report of people that are inside, then that requires a very aggressive interior attack. That is one of the risks that we risk everything for -- is to go in there, try to rescue someone, especially if there's a report that's a very high probability that someone's inside. We react very quickly, very aggressively," said HFD Assistant Fire Chief Raul Reyes.
